ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hosted a dinner in the honor of state dignitaries attending an-all important 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in the country.
As the current Chair of the Council of the Heads of Government (CHG), the premier welcomed and shook hands with the attending guests India’s External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar.
This visit by Jaishankar, who arrived in Pakistan, is the first of its kind in almost a decade.
Earlier, before his arrival, the Indian EAM clarified bilateral ties would not be discussed during his visit.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang attended the 23rd SCO Summit, with his visit to Pakistan being the first by a Chinese premier in 11 years.
China, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will be represented by their prime ministers while Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref will be attending the summit, the Foreign Office has said.
