LAHORE: Maryam Nawaz, daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and chief organizer of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), secured victory in the race for Punjab Assembly Constituency (PP-159) in Lahore, based on unofficial and inconclusive results.
In a tightly contested race, Maryam Nawaz emerged victorious with 23,598 votes, as per the preliminary results. Her closest competitor, independent candidate Mahershrafat, trailed behind with 21,491 votes.
The announcement comes amidst the ongoing tallying of votes across the country following the general elections. The electoral process, which spanned from 8 am to 5 pm on Thursday, witnessed a significant turnout as millions exercised their democratic right to vote.
