SRINAGAR: Engineer Rashid, the incarcerated winning candidate of Baramulla Constituency, has termed his triumph as a victory for the people and extended his gratitude to the residents of North Kashmir for their overwhelming support.
He made these remarks during a meeting with his lawyer, where he assured the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) that he would persist in representing the masses, who have endured various hardships for decades, as quoted by his lawyer.
“Let the government and everyone else understand the distinction between the silence of the graveyard and genuine peace. The election result provides an opportunity for introspection and a reassessment of the policy of governing IIOJK via remote control, urging acceptance of ground realities. The people of India should be assured that Kashmiris are neither enemies of India nor proxies for any other nation. However, the fabrication of false narratives portraying them as villains is unacceptable,” he reportedly conveyed to his lawyer.
According to the lawyer, Engineer Rashid cautioned Kashmiris against forces pursuing power without considering its ramifications for the people of IIOJK.
He also stated that AIP is dedicated to uniting Kashmiris and overcoming animosity with all political rivals, aiming to uplift Kashmiris from a sense of defeat.
“The manner in which one clenches their fist reveals significant aspects of their personality.”
Kashmiris deserve to be heard by other stakeholders at all levels, not as supplicants but as citizens and primary stakeholders of IIOJK, he added.
“Let us set aside our personal egos and acknowledge that the suffering and aspirations of Kashmiris transcend our individual agendas,” the lawyer also quoted him as expressing during their meeting in Tihar Jail.
Notably, Engineer Rashid has submitted a bail application in a Delhi court to be sworn in as a Parliament member after his resounding victory in the Baramulla Constituency.
