ISLAMABAD: Renowned Pakistani educationist Malik Abrar Hussain has been bestowed with an honorary Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree by the State University of Maryland, USA.
The event held at the International Islamic Schools of Excellence, was attended by eminent figures in the education sector, marked a significant milestone in recognizing Hussain’s tireless efforts and contributions to private education in Pakistan.
Speakers at the ceremony lauded Malik Abrar Hussain’s unparalleled services for the improvement of the private education sector. The honorary PhD, they asserted, serves as the highest recognition of his unwavering commitment and dedication to advancing education in the country.
Speakers highlighted Hussain’s multifaceted advocacy, ranging from addressing budgetary concerns to protesting against the closure of educational institutions during the COVID-19 pandemic. His legal battles against governmental decisions, withdrawal of private educational institutions from cantonment areas, and interventions in court cases were acknowledged.
Kashif Mirza, President of All Pakistan Private Schools Federation, in his address as chief guest emphasized that Hussain’s achievement is not merely an individual honor but a source of pride for the entire Pakistani nation. He underscored the pivotal role played by the private education sector in the country’s educational, economic, political, and social development.
Malik Abrar Hussain’s proactive stance on student rights was also commended. He emerged victorious in the BOG election of the Federal Board, actively engaging with parliamentarians to champion students’ interests. His consistent efforts in representing Pakistan’s educational challenges in the media for the past two decades were also recognized.
