ISLAMABAD: 22 terrorists were killed by security forces in a joint intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Khyber District, According to military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the operation, following an intense exchange of fire, “22 khawarij belonging to Indian-sponsored Fitna-al-Khwarij were sent to hell”, read the press release.
The ISPR added, “Due to cowardice and fear of getting apprehended alive, khawarij resorted to indiscriminate firing, which resulted in [the] martyrdom of a 10-year-old innocent child.”
Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the terrorists, who were actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area.
The country’s “relentless” counter terrorism campaign under vision ‘Azm-i-Istekham’ “will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” it stated, adding that the sacrifice of innocent civilians further strengthened resolve.
As per the Annual Security Report 2025 from the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province witnessed a notable surge in violence last year as “fatalities rose from 1,620 in 2024 to 2,331 in 2025”.
