PESHAWAR: The Food Department Peshawar arrested 31 shopkeepers for over charging the citizens against the prices fixed by the district administration.
On directives of Advisor to CM for Food Mian Khaliq ur Rehman, Secretary Food Department Khushal Khan and Director Muhammad Zubair, the Rationing Controller Peshawar Aftab Umer and Assistant Food Controller Tasbeehullah visited different markets of Hayatabad and checked the quality and rates of food items.
The Food Department arrested 31 shopkeepers including butchers, milkmen, bakers and others in various markets of Hayatabad.
In line with the directives of Peshawar High Court (PHC) and provincial government, the Food Department is keeping round the clock monitoring of the prices of essential food items and for this purpose, the officers are inspecting bazaars within their areas of jurisdiction to implement the officially announced price list on shopkeepers in letter and spirit.
According to Rationing Controller Peshawar Umer Aftab, all possible steps are being taken for providing low cost and quality edibles to people at their door steps.
