ISLAMABAD: A new letter from four Supreme Court if Pakistan (SCP) judges addressed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) has surfaced, raising objections over the procedure for approving the court’s rules.
The letter, signed by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Ayesha Malik, and Justice Athar Minallah, questioned why the rules were never placed before a full court for approval.
The judges said they had received a letter regarding a full court meeting, but argued that only a single-point agenda had been set, focusing on resolving issues created by the new rules.
They noted that since the rules were not approved by a full court in the first place, there was little point in attending a meeting on amending them.
The judges also objected to the reliance on circulation for approval, stressing that circulation is meant only for routine administrative matters.
