ISLAMABAD: Kashmiris on both sides of Line of Control and across the globe are marking the 89th Kashmir Martyrs’ Day, today (Monday) to pay tribute to the martyrs of July 13, 1931 carnage.
On July 13, 1931, around 22 protesting Kashmiris were martyred by Dogra forces outside the Central Jail Srinagar who were present to support Abdul Qadeer, who was charged for instigating people to defy the Dogra Rule. July 13 is being marked as martyrs day to commemorate 22 Kashmiris who were martyred in their attempts to complete ‘Azaan’, (call for prayer) outside the Srinagar Central Jail.
Functions, rallies, demonstrations and seminars across the AJK have been arranged to pay glowing tributes to martyrs on this day.
Kashmiri martyrs of July 13, 1931 are beacon of light for Kashmiri nation and source of inspiration for the youth of Kashmir who are bent upon to continue freedom struggle till it reached to logical conclusion.
