ISLAMABAD, Jan 31 (INP): Prime Minister Imran Khan has reiterated his resolve to make Pakistan self-reliant by depending on its resources rather approaching International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other donors for help on tough preconditions which would intensity problems further.
Addressing a ceremony in connection with the inauguration of ‘Pakistan Banao Certificate’ for overseas Pakistanis here on Thursday, Imran Khan said that going IMF and seeking help from other donors was not difficult option for us but we want to resolve the financial issues of the country through own resources as the balance of payment crisis has not resolved yet.
He said that though the country was going through a critical phase, more tough than the deficit faced by the former governments but the PTI government is committed to get rid of the prevailing situation and taking all possible steps to get rid of the daunting situation.
The Prime Minister said that the country has huge potential which needed to be exploited. We have to improve management and concentrate on promoting tourism in the country, he emphasized.
He said, “We have a lot of potential for religious and historical tourism. For the promotion of tourism, we have even introduced e-visas. With revenue through tourism we can balance our current account deficit.”
While thanking Finance Minister Asad Umar, State Bank Governor and others involved in the Pakistan Banao Certificates scheme, Premier Imran Khan said, “This is a scheme that will not only uplift Pakistan but also generate profits for our overseas Pakistanis.”
The Prime Minister said that overseas Pakistanis had a higher appreciation for their home country and they are at the forefront for national causes.
He further stated that about 85 percent of Pakistan’s remittances are by overseas Pakistanis and we are facilitating overseas Pakistanis and making this process smooth for them.
