KARACHI: Veerji Kolhi, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh for Human Rights has said that International Human Rights Day is a historic occasion and a great day for all the people throughout the world who want peace, harmony, justice and rights.
But the fundamental rights of the people of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir must be restored, he said and demand that according to the charter of United Nation, international communities and world powers should raise their voice against Indian atrocities with Kashmiris on this special day.
Addressing a ceremony in connection with the International Human Rights Day organized by Sindh Human Rights Department in Karachi on Tuesday with a slogan to have a pledge to strive for the rights of the Kashmiris, Veerji Kolhi said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) always takes keen interest in human rights issues and always stress commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights.
He also said that it has been the consistent endeavor of the Human Rights Department to safeguard human rights of individuals and communities across province of Sindh and to create an enabling environment for the realization of not only civil and political rights, but also secure to the people of the country, social and economic justice, in consonance with the spirit of the Pakistan’s constitution.
Veerji Kolhi informed that the toll free number of human rights department complaint cell: 0800-0011 is working 24 hours and people registering their complaints on this number. We are taking all possible steps to redress their issues and complaints according to law. The People of Sindh province always trusted faith in the human rights department for the protection of their rights as is evident from the substantial increase in number of complaints received through help line number.
The ceremony was also attended by Senator Krishna Kumari, Special Assistant to CM Riaz Hussain Shah, M.P.A Qasim Soomro Secretary Human Rights Sindh Badar Jameel Mandhro, Director Human Rights Sindh Qamar Raza, and Chairperson Commission on the status of Women Nuzhat Sheeren, Administrator Human Rights Ashfaq Ahmed and others.
