Coronavirus a serious threat to Pakistan

The threat of deadly coronavirus is getting scary, as Iran has confirmed deaths of its citizens after the virus jolted China.

Though, the Novel Coronavirus has been reported in other countries including Thailand, Egypt and South Korea but it is a matter of grave concern for Pakistan that its two borders along with China and Iran are now very much prone to coronavirus.

The government claims confidently that there is no coronavirus affected patient in the country so far, but it is an admitted fact that we lack resources to contain spread of such deadly virus.

We don’t have state of the art mechanism to monitor influx of corona virus carriers either from China or Iran and even Afghanistan. Few suspected patients with symptoms of virus were put in isolation facilities setup in Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar but none of them was tested positive.

We can’t relax, as people come to Pakistan in large numbers from China, Iran or Afghanistan. There is hardly any foolproof arrangement put in place at borders of Iran and Afghanistan.

Countries like China and South Korea are struggling to fight deadly virus so its high time for Pakistan to keep vigil over possible breach of deadly Noval Coronavirus to its soil. A sincere and dedicated effort is needed to meet the challenge.
