ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ruled that Prime Minister’s Advisor on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh cannot be the head of the government’s Cabinet Committee.
The court also annulled the notification dated April 25, 2019 and ruled that the formation of the Cabinet Committee on Privatization was illegal. The Islamabad High Court has accepted the petition of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) against the formation of the cabinet committee.
In addition, the court ruled that the participation of all relevant advisers in the committee was illegal. This includes institutional reform adviser Dr. Ishrat Hussain and commerce and investment adviser Abdul Razak Dawood.
IHC disqualifies Abdul Hafeez Sheikh from heading cabinet committee.
