AJK government observes anniversary of Shuhada-e-Lanjot

KOTLI (AJK): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government on Thursday observed anniversary of the Shuhada-e-Lanjot to pay homage to those martyred by the Indian forces in Lanjot village of Nakyal Sector along the Line of Control on 25 February 2000.

It was for the first time, that AJK government officially observed anniversary  of these martyred Kashmiris.

The Indian army, in an operation, had martyred 14 persons in the village Lanjot in 2000. The ceremony was organized by the AJK government in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell.

Around two decades back in the midnight of this day, the Indian army resorted to shelling and firing and then the personnel entered a house forcibly and opened fire on the dwellers.

In this brutal act, the Indian army martyred 14 persons. This year, the families of the martyrs had requested the AJK Premier Raja Farooq Haider to observe the anniversary at the government level, which he accepted.
