ISLAMABAD: A delegation of Islamabad based writers and human rights and cultural rights activists on Friday met Federal Minister for Human Rights Sheerin Mazari and discussed life threats to renowned writer Amar Jalil.
The during the meeting, the minister said she had been aware of the case of Amar Jalil initially, but does not know the latest situation.
She heard the delegation’s concerns very seriously and went through the joint statement, which was presented to her.
Mazari showed her concern over the proclamation head-money by a non-state actor on an intellectual and writer of national stature.
She promised that her office will write to the Chief Minister Sindh and the Inspector General Police to look into the matter seriously and perform their responsibilities as state institution to bring the culprits to justice.
The delegation comprised of Nasreen Azhar (HRCP), Hameed Shahid (writer), Zubeda Birwani (Indus Cultural Forum), and Munawar Hassan (Chairperson Indus Cultural Forum).
