Pakistan reports  3.58% lowest positivity rate; 1,893 new cases, 83 new deaths confirmed

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan reported 3.58 per cent the lowest positivity rate of Coronavirus in last three months, besides 1,893 new cases were reported in the country in last 24 hours along with 83 new deaths.

The Government on Friday has confirmed 83 new deaths and 1,893 more people were tested positive. With 1,893 new coronavirus cases the toll of infections jumped to 928,588 cases. During last 24 hours 83 new deaths were reported that took the toll of fatalities to 21,105.

According to latest figures displayed on National Coronavirus Dashboard of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), The NCOC conducted overall more than 13.5 million coronavirus testes across the country while 52,859 COVID-19 tests conducted in 24 hours, out of them 1,893 were tested positive.

The coronavirus positivity ratio in Pakistan falls to 3.58 per cent as on Friday. The number of active COVID-19 cases in the country is 68,959, while 856,005 people have recovered from the virus so far and 3,557 were reported to be in critical condition.

Punjab remained the worst hit province during this month as positivity rate is still high than the remaining parts of country where it has shown downward trend while the toll of infections reached to 341,390 in the province. Sindh has reported 321,425 overall coronavirus epidemic infections, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Punjab has overtaken Sindh in most number of casualties.

The new cases have taken the national tally of positive cases to 928,588 with 341,390 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Punjab, 321,425 in Sindh, 133,746 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 81,540 in Islamabad, 25,476 in Balochistan, 19,388 in Azad Kashmir and 5,623 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Nationwide till of deaths surged to 21,105 out of that 10,039 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 5,039 in Sindh, 4,079 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 762 in Islamabad, 544 in Azad Kashmir, 280 in Balochistan, and 107 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Pakistan has so far conducted 13,420,779 coronavirus tests and 52,859 in the last 24 hours. 856,005 patients have recovered in the country whereas 3,557 patients are in critical condition.

A day earlier, Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho that said despite the efforts of the government, people are still hesitant to get themselves vaccinated.

The health minister, addressing a press conference in Karachi, said Sindh would ease restriction once people start getting themselves inoculated.

“The coronavirus positivity ratio in Karachi is still above 11%,” Dr Pechuho said, adding that Sindh is yet to see an improvement.
