ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has summoned a high level meeting over prevailing situation in neighboring Afghanistan and to review the steps taken after brutal lynching of Sri Lankan national by a mob in Sialkot.

The meeting to be held at Prime Minister House and will be attended by federal ministers as well as military leadership. Current situation of Afghanistan as well as steps to stop Sialkot lynching like incidents in the future will come under discussion.

Earlier this month, Sri Lankan national manager of a factory was lynched and burnt to death by a mob on charges of blasphemy drawing condemnation across the country. Pakistan has been seeing such incidents repeatedly. Increasing intolerance and religious extremism is being seen as a real threat to Pakistan.

Pakistan says it is continuously working to promote peace in neighboring Afghanistan and has also provided economic aid to the neighbor.

The country has also urged international community also provide aid to Afghanistan.
