Coronavirus Fifth Wave: Pakistan reports 44 new deaths, 3,019 new cases in 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: Coronavirus fifth wave is still on worst mood as another 44 people have died of the COVID-19 in Pakistan and 3,019 more people were tested positive fo the deadly virus in last 24 hours.

According to latest figure appeared on National Coronavirus Dashboard of the National Command and Operation Centre’s (NCOC) 3,019 people have been tested positiv for the deadly virus and 44 people have lost their lives on Saturday morning.

NCOCstated that 56,260 coronavirus tests were conducted across the country in the last 24 hours, of which 3,019 returned positive. The rate of positive cases during the last 24 hours was 5.36 per cent.

With 44 more deaths during last 24 hours the NCOC stated that overall number of deaths from COVID-19 in the country has risen to 29,731.Total number of overall positive cases has reached 1,480,592, after 3,019 more people were tested positve.

In addition to this, 5,175 patients have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours across the country, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,370,693, while the number of active cases is 80,168.

Pakistan has administered at least 194,492,475 doses of COVID vaccines so far.

Following are the cities where the infection rate is still above 10% mark, according to the NCOC data: Gilgit — 17.39 per cent, Muzaffarabad —16.89 per cent, Hyderabad — 15.34 per cent, Skardu —13.33 per cent, Peshawar — 12.36 per cent, Mardan — 11.84 per cent.

Meanwhile, positivity rate in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad remained below 10 per cent.
