ISLAMABAD: Chairman NDMA Lt.General Muhammad Afzal has re-elected to the Governing Council of Asia- Pacific center for development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM).
Election to the APDIM And SIAP were held during 75th Session of the Commission at the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok. Owning ti the active Lobbing efforts made by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Embassy of Pakistan in Bangkok, Pakistan secured highest number if votes in APDIM Elections.
Pakistan Re-elected with the highest number of votes.
The Governing Council is the apex decision making body of the center. Pakistan’s representation in the Governing Council of APDIM Will enable alignment if its priorities underlined in the National Disaster Reduction Policy and National Disaster Management Plan (NDMP) with the products and services of the center. This will also offer oppertunities to Pakistan to give input in regional initiatives of the center in various meeting of UNESCAP Committees and APDIM sessions Council consists of the representatives from the Member Countries include Government of Islamic Republic of Iran, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Mongolia, Turkey,Fiji, India, Macao, China and Pakistan.
