ISLAMABAD: Tremors from a moderate earthquake were felt across various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, no immediate reports of casualties or property damage were received, According seismological centre.
The tremors were felt in Malakand and Landikotal, and their surrounding areas, causing brief panic among residents
The National Seismological Centre reported that the earthquake measured 5.7 on the Richter scale and occurred at a depth of 12 kilometres, making the tremors noticeable across a wide region.
The epicentre was located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, an area known for frequent seismic activity due to tectonic plate movements.
Residents in affected areas reported shaking that lasted for a few seconds, prompting people to come out of their homes and buildings as a precaution. However; no immediate reports of casualties or property damage were received.
Local authorities said they are monitoring the situation, while disaster management officials have advised the public to remain cautious in case of aftershocks.
