Islamabad: The Chairman of the Rahmatul Lil Alameen and Khatam-un-Nabiyyin Authority, Khurshid Nadeem, has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan, stating that no compromise is possible on Pakistan’s sovereignty, security and stability.
Khurshid Nadeem, in a statement, expressed heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the families of the martyrs. He said that terrorism poses a grave threat not only to Pakistan but to peace and stability across the entire region.
While praising the timely and effective actions of the security agencies against terrorism, he said that the armed forces have always played a key role in the defense of the country.
Referring to external interference, he said that hostile forces are engaged in various conspiracies to spread unrest in Balochistan, but these efforts will never succeed.
Mr Nadeem urged the people of Balochistan to understand the enemy’s nefarious intentions and remain vigilant against being exploited by anti-state elements.
Balochistan Development Funds Misused: Minister
While adressing the National Assembly, the Defence Minister Khwaja Asif on Monday pointed out that Balochistan was the largest province of Pakistan in terms of area, where a single person was residing every 35 kilometres.
He made these remarks while briefing the house on Balochistan security situation.
“Controlling this is way more difficult than a populated city or area, and there is a need for the deployment of our forces on a massive scale. Our forces are deployed there and taking action against them, but there is a physical handicap when it comes to guarding and patrolling such a large area,” he said.
He alleged that the political leadership had exploited development funds in Balochistan along with the bureaucracy.
177 terrorists, he stated, had been killed, 17 personnel — including 10 of police, six of Frontier Corps and one Levies — had been martyred and 33 civilians had lost their lives, mainly in Gwadar, in a span of two days.
He insisted that Balochistan had seen development over the years since Pakistan’s independence.
He claimed that a narrative was concocted about a sense of deprivation in Balochistan, sharing details about the province’s share under the National Finance Commission, per capita budget and its share under the Public Sector Development Programme.
But, a narrative of deprivation was spun regarding Balochistan, he said, adding that smuggling in the province was not possible without the patronage of politicians and bureaucracy.
Pakistan saw an escalation in terrorist violence in 2025, with terrorist attacks rising by 34 per cent and terrorism-related fatalities increasing by 21pc year on year, according to data released by the Islamabad-based Pak Institute for Peace Studies. The report put the total number of attacks during the year at 699.
