ISLAMABAD: The residence of a local Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, Nawabzada Waheeduddin Khan, was attacked with hand grenades by unknown attackers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district, police said.
According to police, the incident took place late on Tuesday night at around 1:30 which damaged the house’s main gate in the Haji Lawang area on the outskirts of Khar tehsil.
As per the initial investigations, the attack was carried out with hand grenades allegedly thrown by unidentified attackers.
Following the incident, police immediately dispatched to the area to initiate search operation for the attackers.
A police official said that an investigation is being conducted to identify the motive behind the attack and determine those responsible. However, no group had claimed responsibility for the incident yet.
Leadership condemns the attack
Provincial senior vice-president of PML-N Shahabuddin Khan strongly denounced the assault on the house of his brother and party leader.
He wrote that “Thanks to Allah that no loss of life was reported in the attack,” He demanded the federal government and other law enforcement agencies to initiate an immediate inquiry and bring the perpetrators to justice.
He added such cowardly acts would not shake their determination.
Waheed, at the time of the attack was not at home and is currently in Peshawar. He said in a social media post that his family members were safe, expressing concern over the incident.
