SWAT: A policeman has been martyred and four terrorists have been killed during a counterterrorism operation in Swat’s Matta tehsil, according to police.
According to Swat police spokesperson Nasir Iqbal Karimi, clashes occurred between terrorists and police, which resulted the martyrdom of Elite Force Constable Gulfam; however, four terrorists had also been killed in the operation. while the operation being carried out by the Pakistan Army, police and other security agencies was ongoing.
Four militants have taken shelter inside a house and are using members of the family as human shields and the operation is still in progress, security sources added.
The funeral prayers for the martyred constable were offered at in Swat’s Police Lines, which was attended by the Malakand commissioner, the Regional Police Officer (RPO), the Swat District Police Officer (DPO), army and police officials, and a large number of members of civil society.
the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies said the country’s security situation worsened sharply in May after two months of improvement, citing rising militant violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
