US actress Blair arrested after alleged in-flight assault

NEW YORK: US actress Selma Blair was arrested following an alleged altercation on a flight from Los Angeles to New York City that injured at least two cabin crew members, according to authorities.

Blair was taken into custody late on Sunday as the Delta Air Lines plane was parked at the gate at New York’s John F Kennedy Airport, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said.

A representative for Blair said Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct, adding that upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.

Sydney Kleinmann, a spokesperson for the FBI NY, stated: “Yesterday, we were informed by our partners at Port Authority Police Department of a potential assault aboard a flight that arrived into JFK. As per long-standing Department of Justice policy, we do not comment on ongoing investigations”.

In 2016, Blair was removed from a plane on a stretcher following another outburst on a flight.

She told Vanity Fair after that incident:“I mixed alcohol with medication, and that caused me to black out and led me to say and do things that I deeply regret.”

Later, she apologised for making statements she regretted on a flight from Cancun to Los Angele.
