A Checklist for Blog Writing

A review on rubrics would help us recheck our final drafts before sending for publication. It is an easy way to evaluate the language, tone, style, mechanics and other essential elements of a text. Ticking all the questions in the checklist would help us fine-tune the written draft considering all nitty-gritties.

Primary Points to consider:

Advertisment
  • Have I used a catchy title?
  • Have I used an appealing image?
  • Have I taken my data from authentic sources or should I crosscheck my information one more time?
  • Is my hook interesting?
  • Should I switch to any other type of hook for making the beginning more engaging?
  • Will my text be comprehensive if I use a combination of two types of hooks?

If it is Persuasive Writing, then check:

  • Which modes of persuasion have I applied?
  • Where have I used ethos?
  • Where have I used logos in my blog?
  • Have I used pathos in my blog?

If it is Narrative Writing, then check:

  • Have I used all necessary elements of storytelling?
  • Have I used imagery?
  • Have I used strong adjectives?
  • Have I used suitable point of view?
  • How can I make my style more engaging?
  • Will addition of dialogue or monologue be a good idea to use?

Please revisit your Language:

  • Is my language simple?
  • Are my ideas comprehensive?
  • Have I used correct grammar & spelling?
  • Are all my subjects in agreement with verbs?
  • Have I repeated the words?
  • Have I used the combination of all types of sentences (i.e. simple, compound and complex)?
  • Do I need a correction in punctuations?
  • Are all the articles used correctly?
  • com is a great help!

Let’s now eradicate barriers:

  • Is my text monotonous?
  • Is my text coherent?
  • Should I edit unnecessary words for precision?
  • Is my text clearly delivering the objectives?
  • Have I used proper tone for setting the mood I intend?
  • Have I used relevant examples to explain the ideas?
  • Is there any room for humor or sarcasm?
  • Can I make my text more meaningful and insightful?
  • Does the organization of ideas need an alteration?

Is this all you need to check? No!

“We force-fit our tiny rubrics over this immense existence of ours until we’ve confused the box we’ve created for the existence we failed to mimic.”
