After aggression at Working Boundary, India resorts to ‘water terrorism’: Minister

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs (HR&MA) Ijaz Alam Augustine has said that after aggression at the Working Boundary and Line of Control (LoC), India has now resorted to “water terrorism” by releasing a huge quantity of floodwater into rivers entering the Pakistani territories from the Indian side.

Speaking during a meeting with PTI representatives at the human rights camp office on Tuesday, Ijaz Alam said that India has deliberately diverted major flood towards Pakistan, which has created a huge flood risk in Pakistani rivers.

He said that it is highly commendable act of India, the Pakistani nation should know that all our respective institutions are fully vigilant included Pak Army and ensuring all precautionary measures to deal with any untoward situation.

The Provincial Minister for HR&MA said that India had suspended the Indus Waters Treaty practically and stopped all kinds of data sharing related to the water agreement between the two countries. India also did not notify Pakistan about releasing of additional water into River Sutlej, he concluded. (INP)
