Afghanistan:A military source said on Sunday that, at least 28 Taliban militants died following an airstrike in Afghanistan’s northern Faryab region.
Hanif Rezai, spokesman of army Corps 209 Shaheen based in the district said that, based on a confirmed tip-off, an Afghan Air Force A-29 aircraft attacked a Taliban hideout in Bilchiragh district, Faryab province on Saturday evening and left 28 armed Taliban killed.
The targeted militants were gathering for planning attacks on security forces.
Violence has rose in the earlier peaceful northern region over a past few years as Afghan security forces push against the militants in the south and east districts, and the Taliban militant group didn’t respond to the report up to now.
The Taliban militant group has not responded to the report so far.(RP)
