ISLAMABAD: The Embassy of the Republic of Poland hosted an event to mark the second anniversary of the Russian invasion against Ukraine. Maciej Pisarski, the Ambassador of Poland, delivered poignant remarks highlighting the ongoing suffering of innocent civilians and the valiant resistance displayed by the Ukrainian armed forces and population.
In his address, Ambassador Pisarski emphasized the unprovoked and illegal nature of the Russian aggression that has resulted in immense human suffering, including the loss of innocent lives and the destruction of homes, hospitals, schools, and infrastructure. The invasion aimed to magnify cruelty and break the spirit of resistance among the Ukrainian people.
Acknowledging the global attention on other conflicts, particularly in the Middle East, Ambassador Pisarski stressed the importance of addressing the humanitarian situation in Gaza. He highlighted the necessity to prevent the escalation of conflicts in the region and initiate a credible political process for a two-state solution.
While expressing concern for other conflicts, Ambassador Pisarski reminded the audience not to forget about the prolonged war in Ukraine. He cautioned against fatigue or distraction, urging continued support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the right to choose its future free from intimidation and fear.
The Ambassador underscored the invaders’ strategy to wear down defenders and their supporters by creating fatigue and distraction. He asserted that the world must not forget the dictator in Europe who, through force and disinformation, seeks to subjugate and conquer Ukraine, endangering global security.
In concluding his remarks, Ambassador Pisarski expressed gratitude for the collaboration with Ukrainian partners and recognized the efforts of the Weimar Triangle countries—France, Germany, and Poland—in supporting Ukraine. He shared the commitment of the foreign ministers of these countries to meet in the future, including Ukraine in the extended format, demonstrating a united front against the Russian aggression.
The event served as a platform for diplomatic cooperation, promoting the truthful understanding of Ukraine’s fight against aggression and reinforcing the commitment of nations to stand against external threats.
