WANA: After a two-years closure, Pak-Afghan border crossing at Angoor Adda was officially reopened today, sparking widespread joy among locals. The reopening has revived hopes for economic recovery and renewed cross-border trade in the region.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by DC lower Waziristan Member of the National Assembly Zubair Wazir and Deputy Commander of the Khumrang Brigade. A large number of tribal elders, religious scholars, students, and residents were also present. The event was described as historic and highly spirited.
Addressing the gathering, speakers said the reopening of Angoor Adda border would not only strengthen trade relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan but also create new economic opportunities and jobs for people living in border areas.
Local residents, speaking to media, expressed optimism that the move would boost trade, ease the supply of essential goods, and open avenues for lawful employment. They said the two-year closure had caused severe hardships, but the reopening is expected to accelerate business activities.
Angoor Adda is considered a key hub of cross-border trade, facilitating the daily movement of goods between the two countries. Officials and community leaders hailed the reopening as a positive step toward regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
