Another Polio Case Confirmed in Peshawar, Took Toll to 56 Ongoing Year

PESHAWAR: The Sword of Damocles remains hanging over Pakistan as the threat of the polio continues to loom over the country while another case was confirmed on Wednesday in Peshawar.

According to details, the two-year-old child was affected by the polio fever in the Dera Ismail Khan district.

The total number of cases in the province had now reached 15 in the ongoing year. This was the seventh polio case from Dera Ismail Khan as confirmed by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Tank, Lakki Marwat, and Kohat had reported two cases each, whereas one case each was confirmed in Mohmand District, Nowshera.

The country had reported 56 cases overall in the current year. Balochistan and KP had reported 26 and 15 cases, respectively. Sindh had recorded 13, while Punjab and the federal capital city had reported one case each.
