LAHORE: Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Parvaiz Elahi has asked the government to resolve issues of farmers on a priority basis.
Expressing condolence over the demise of farmers leader Ashfaq Langrial he said that the blood of Ashfaq Langrial will never go waste, whosoever have committed this will Insha-Allah must be taken to task.
He stated that the government’s work is to sort out matters and provide relief to the people. All governments in the past have always given priority to solve problems of the people, he added.
Speaker Punjab Assembly indirectly criticized the government saying that protest is everyone’s democratic right, but what of this democracy which curbs the voice of a protestor.
Ch Parvaiz Elahi said that the farmers are responsible citizens of this county and their prosperity is the prosperity of the country. He suggested that the supporting price of wheat should be Rs 2000 per maund.
Expressing solidarity with the Kissan Forum Pervaiz Elahi highlighted that if farmers’ demands were heard seriously on the first then such a big tragedy would not have occurred.
He said instead of trying to control the circumstances through the police, attention should be paid to solving the problems, in our tenure dialogues were held with the protestors and their problems were solved through understanding and wisdom. (With input from INP)
