Azerbaijan's Oil facility 'SOCAR' invites Pakistan for cooperation in underground gas storage facility

ISLAMABAD: Nadeem Babar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Petroleum attended the 4th Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference as keynote speaker; SAPM also met a delegation of senior officials from SOCAR, Azerbaijan and Yohei Matsumoto, State Minister METI, Japan on the sidelines of conference at Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Nadeem Babar is visiting UAE as a keynote speaker at the ADIPEC conference. Earlier, he participated at the Ministerial Panel Discussion on Energy and Policy titled, “The 4th Industrial Revolution is upon us and of its key challenges will be access to clean energy” along with Eng. Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei , a the UAE Minister of Energy & Industry. Babar outlined the steps taken by Pakistan in ease of doing business, expanding energy market and opening up avenue for foreign investors to invest in energy sector of Pakistan. SAPM also briefed participants of conference on oil and gas exploration and production activities in Pakistan.
On sideline meeting with the delegation from state run oil company of Azerbaijan SOCAR, both sides made deliberations on exchange of knowledge on underground gas storages. SOCAR delegation also extended invitation for Pakistani delegation to visit underground gas storage facilities in Azerbaijan. Babar accepted the invitation extended by SOCAR to visit Azerbaijan and hoped he would be able to visit soon.
In separate meeting with Yohei Matsumoto, the state Minister of Economy, Trade & Industry of the government of Japan, SAPM apprised the delegation of the present Government’s commitment to improving the business climate in the country. The SAPM also shared with the delegation the Government’s plan to offer onshore and offshore blocks through auction for Oil and Gas exploration through auction. Both discussed on Japanese offer of training program on technology and advancements in energy sector. Nadeem Babar noted with gratification the momentum in relations between both the countries particularly in the energy sector.
