Bahria Town employees face salary cut up to 50 percent

ISLAMABAD: The management of Bahria Town, Pakistan’s largest private sector housing company slashed salaries of its employees for the month of April 2020 up to 50 percent ‘due to the prevailing situation of Corona outburst’.

However, the employees associated with the hospitals of the establishment have been exempted from the cut.

“Please be informed that due to the prevailing situation of Corona outburst across the globe, business dynamics have changed dynamically. In order to cope with the economic challenge, the management of Bahria Town has decided the following criteria for the payment of salaries for the month of April 2020,” said a circular issued by the Bahria Town management on April 27, 2020.

According to the circular, there would be no deduction in the salary up to Rs 50,000 or equivalent. For salary ranging from Rs 50,000 to 100,000, there would be a 20 percent cut; for salary starting from Rs 100,001 to Rs 300,000, there would be 40 percent deduction while 50 percent cut has been announced in the salary more than 300,00.

“The salary deduction criteria for the month of April 2020 is applicable to all Bahria Town employees/projects except hospitals,” read the circular further.
