ISLMABAD: To improve mobility for working women and general public, and to promote sustainable transportation, the provincial government in Balochistan and the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) have signed a formal agreement to provide electric scooters on subsidised installments to students.
The MoU signing ceremony was organised at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Quetta, attended by Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, Provincial Minister Mir Sadiq Umrani, provincial officials, and representatives from the National Bank of Pakistan.
On this occasion, the chief minister described the initiative as a significant step toward ensuring safe, affordable and dignified commuting options, especially for students and working women. He noted that the scheme will not only reduce daily travel challenges but also encourage the adoption of eco-friendly transport alternatives, contributing to cost-effective and sustainable mobility.
Highlighting the government’s focus on public welfare, Mr Bugti emphasised that such initiatives directly improve citizens’ daily lives, empower women and youth, and reflect Balochistan’s commitment to inclusive development.
He reiterated that the provincial government will continue to roll out projects that provide tangible benefits and support long-term economic and social progress across the province.
