QUETTA: Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE) in Balochistan Sardar Abdul Rehman Khan Khetran on Monday said that January 5 was a day of renewal of the resolve that the struggle of the Kashmiri people would be taken to its logical conclusion.
He said in a statement on the occasion of ‘Kashmir Right to Self-Determination Day’ that the right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people was not a political slogan but a recognised international promise under the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council which had not been fulfilled till date.
The minister said that this day was a reminder of the promise made by the UN to grant the Kashmiri people their birthright, but unfortunately, despite the passage of decades, this promise could not be fulfilled.
He said that the Kashmiri people were still facing oppression, violence and serious violations of human rights, which was a question mark for the global conscience.
He stressed that a just and lasting solution to the Kashmir issue was indispensable for lasting peace in South Asia.
Mr Khetran added that Pakistan would continue to provide political, moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people at all levels and could continue to raise its voice effectively at international forums for their legitimate rights.
He called on the international community not to be limited to mere statements but ensure the implementation of its own adopted resolutions by the UN so that the Kashmiri people could be given their right to self-determination.
