DHAKA: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has started to mount pressure on the other board members to refuse their participation in the forthcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in Dhaka.
According to details surfaced, the Indian government and the BCCI have started lobbying for not attending the ACC huddle in the Bangladesh’s capital city.
It was reported that the BCCI has offered heavy amounts to the member boards for not attending the ACC meeting. International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Jay Shah himself was also involved in lobbying over the matter.
The member countries were asked to write a letter about not attending the ACC meeting. After Sri Lanka, Oman has also supported India and opposed the ACC meeting in Dhaka.
Many of the ACC members agreed to hold the AGM in Dhaka. The majority of the board members have vowed to continue supporting ACC President Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi’s decision to hold the AGM in Dhaka.
It is pertinent to note that Naqvi has summoned the AGM Meeting on July 24 in Dhaka. Meanwhile, India and Sri Lanka have asked to shift the meeting from Dhaka to any other venue.
