Bishop Joseph express closeness with those affected of Coronavirus

ISLAMABAD: President of Pakistan Catholic Bishop’s Conference and Archbishop in Islamabad-Rawalpindi, Dr. Joseph Arshad has said that in the today’s world, we are confronted with a dangerous Coronavirus Covid 19 affecting various countries and I wish to express my Closeness to those who are ill with Coronavirus and to healthcare workers who are caring for them.

In a message on Friday, Archbishop Dr. Joseph Arshad said that there are nearly 90,000 confirmed cases. 3000 succumbed to this deadly disease. Nearly 500 million people are either in hardcore shut down conditions or being restricted to their houses.

The Cause and antidote is still hard to decipher. China, South Korea, Iran and Italy are at the epicenter of this mysterious disease.

He said that the last two decades saw three deadly virus spread: SARS, MERS and now the deadliest one: COVID 19. The virus spreads virulently in more places forcing even the powerful countries to wrench their arms in despair. International impact of this virus attack is deadly.

Economy is taking a hard hit in many countries. Tourism is in violent turbulence, markets are wobbling. Though it is not apocalypse the WHO has declared the crisis as one of the ‘most critical challenges’ to humanity.

Archbishop Dr. Joseph Arshad said that at this time of pain and grief for humanity, I invite all to pray-for the victims, for those infected, for the efforts of those in Authority, in medical and scientific fields who are combating the virus, and for all those who may feel anxious-that the Almighty Merciful God may bring strength, comfort and healing to all.
