Despite promises to streamline legal processes and enhance judicial efficiency, the BJP government’s interventions have raised doubts about its commitment to upholding the rule of law.

According to a report published Indian media channel .The Scroll, there has been a surge in pending cases, failing promises to establish specialized courts, and a decline in India’s overall rule of law score.

Critics argue that the government’s interference in judicial appointments and post-retirement incentives for favored judges undermine the judiciary’s independence.

The contentious relationship between the judiciary and the executive has further fueled apprehensions about the erosion of democratic norms.

With concerns mounting over the judiciary’s autonomy, observers warn that India risks transitioning from a democratic state to a regime under Modi’s control.
