LAHORE:
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has directed to set up special counters for kidney transplant in teaching hospitals of the province.
He issued the directives while presiding over the meeting of Punjab Human Organ Transplant Authority (PHOTA) here on Thursday. The meeting also decided to establish regional offices of PHOTA, INP reported.
Usman Buzdar made it clear that the illegal trade of organs’ transplantation will not be tolerated and legal action will be initiated against the criminals. He directed to early dispose of the cases relating to organs’ transplantation adding that it relates to human lives and no file should be stopped without any reason. Delay is unacceptable in cases relating to organs’ transplantation, he added.
The Chief Minister said that organs’ donation is a noble cause because human life is the most precious. The organs’ transplantation should be totally safe and every possible effort should be made in this regard, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmeen Rashid said that the necessary amendment is being made in the law as the same is required to make the organs’ transplantation process easy and possible.
Health Advisor Muhammad Hanif Pitafi announced to donate his body organs after death as human lives can be saved through it. PHOTA head Dr. Faisal Masood briefed about the working of the authority.
