The field marshal Asim Munir, during the visit, called on Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and held separate meetings with Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and the commander of Khatamul Anbiya Headquarters, Major General Ali Abdollahi.

“The CDF expressed deep appreciation for the “warm hospitality” extended by Iran during the delegation’s visit, and conveyed sincere regards and best wishes from the president, prime minister, and people of Pakistan to the Iranian leadership,” the ISPR statement said.

Munir further reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen the historic and brotherly relationship between the two countries.

The visit comes at a critical juncture, with a Pakistan-brokered ceasefire between Iran and the United States due to expire on April 22.

Officials familiar with the diplomacy said the talks in Tehran focused on sustaining the truce, reducing differences, and preparing the ground for a second round of negotiations between the United States and Iran.
