Children: Our Most Valuable Resource

Winter is over and summer is in the air. For the summer, one will dramatically think of flowers.

However, for some, it’s not flower of a garden that matters but flower of a family. Children are no less than oxygen for a family, no doubt, future of child is unpredictable.

The darker aspect of the story is that these flowers are misused, sometime. Their fragrance is extracted and they are nothing but a rose without scent.

Child labour refers to any physical heavy work which deprives children of their childhood and bars from their attending regular school classes. This affects children; physically, mentally and psychologically.

Child labourers are mostly from needy and uneducated families. But the question arises that why these children are supposed to earn in the presence of family’s elders? Why education is kept secondary or lesser important for them? There must be few children who don’t have anyone to earn for them and they have to sacrifice but, on the contrary, there are few families who themselves don’t consider education as much important.

Luckily, few NGO’s are working on this issue and looking after such children; educate them and if still their parents aren’t agreeing, they give profitable wages or food supplements to their parents.

The thing isn’t about poverty. It is about the mind set. Many NGOs are working to educate children without any fee and other expenses but still we need to change the mind set of such people. Once they had their mind set changed to educate their children despite making them labour, they would not miss school.

People who hire children for house chores on daily wages should financially support them so every child could reach school. Most scary aspect of our society is child abuse.

How can we let them trample our flowers? Are children born for these mishaps? Is there any fault in any of our child’s behavior? How much can we make these tiny beautiful and creative minds aware of how to avert the situation and mishaps?

This era has devastating effect on today’s child. For a society, child abuse would be a curse if the people don’t look for the alternates to stop child abuse. A country cannot make its image better if child abuse cases continue to pop up. Islam has declared a very strict punishment for this sinful act. All we have forgotten is our religious norms.
