ISLAMABAD: Coronavirus pandemic third wave is taking worst turn in Pakistan as fatalities and infections are surging round the country as during last 24 hours 40 new deaths were reported besides 3,449 people were tested positive to virus.

During last 24 hours 40 new deaths were reported to COVID-19 and 3,449 more people were tested positive to the virus round the Pakistan Friday.
Nationwide infections on Friday surged to new high during last three months as 3,449 were tested to coronavirus epidemic besides 61 more deaths were confirmed. With 3,449 new infections reported in the country that took the toll to 619,259 cases and with 40 new deaths the toll of fatalities jumped to 13,757.
According to the latest figures displayed on National Coronavirus Dashboard of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), the NCOC confirmed the death of 40 more people during last 24 hours besides reported that 3,449 persons tested positive for COVID-19.
Sindh with 262,503 overall COVID-19 cases remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Punjab has overtaken Sindh in most number of casualties.
So far across the country 262,503 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 193,054 in Punjab, 77,972 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 19,290 in Balochistan, 50,096 in Islamabad, 11,377 in Azad Kashmir and 4,967 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Nationwide tally of fatalities remains 13,757 out of that 5,919 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 4,473 in Sindh, 2,196 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 202 in Balochistan, 536 in Islamabad, 328 in Azad Kashmir and 103 in Gilgit Baltistan.
According to reports issued by NCOC, Pakistan has so far conducted 9,691,087 coronavirus tests and 42,845 in the last 24 hours. 578,314 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas 2,064 patients are in critical condition.
