Coronavirus death toll rises to 67; confirmed infections jump to 4,612

ISLAMABAD: Coronavirus epidemic so far claimed 67 lives in Pakistan as new fatalities were reported in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab while the toll of confirmed COVID-19 infections jumped to 4,612 on Friday after new infections were confirmed from all over Pakistan.

After Health authorities have confirmed infections are increasing rapidly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Sindh, nation-wide coronavirus tally shot up from 4,339 on Thursday morning to 4,612 on Friday morning.

The province-wise break up of coronavirus infections given by the National Health Authorities Coronavirus dashboard at 09:50am, April 10, Friday, is as total number of confirmed infections was 4,612, with Punjab 2,279, Sindh 1,128, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 620, Gilgit-Baltistan 215, Balochistan 219, Islamabad Capital Territory 118 and AJK 33.

Sindh Minister for Information Nasir Hussain Shah on Friday morning said that the restrictions on congregational prayers across the province will be strictly enforced for Friday prayers.

Shah requested that people pray at their homes and limit their movements outside from 12pm to 3pm in the afternoon.

In Punjab number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus rose to 2,279 on Friday morning, according to Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar. CM Buzdar said the province had conducted 31,535 tests of the virus so far.
