ISLAMABAD: Coronavirus fifth wave has started ringing alarming bells in Pakistan as seven more deaths and 3,567 new infections were reported in the last 24 hours.
According to the latest figures issued on National Coronavirus Dashboard by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 3,567 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 and seven people lost their lives to the deadly virus in the past 24 hours.
As many as 3,567 people were tested positive to novel coronavirus, the overall number of confirmed positive cases has surged to 1,315,834. With seven deaths reported in last 24 hours the nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 28,999 on Friday morning.
The NCOC reports during last 24 hours on provice wise updates of the virus, Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
1,315,834 confirmed positive cases were reported across the country out of which 494,064 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 450,686 in Punjab, 181,996 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 110,243 in Islamabad, 34,726 in Azad Kashmir 33,682 in Balochistan and 10,437 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Pakistan has so far conducted 24,032,951 coronavirus tests and 48,449 in the last 24 hours. 1,260,407 patients have recovered in the country whereas 675 patients are in critical condition.
The COVID-19 positivity ratio was recorded at 7.36 per cent.
So far, 101,124,956 people have received their first dose of coronavirus vaccine including 327,877 in last 24 hours. 76,162,035 citizens have been fully vaccinated while 475,648 received their second dose in last 24 hours.
The number of total administered doses has reached to 166,083,807with 786,835 in the last 24 hours.
