Coronavirus Fifth Wave: Pakistan reports 4,027 coronavirus cases, 9 deaths in 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: Coronavirus fifth wave is taking toll despite the government efforts to impose restriction and force people to implement on SOPs.

According to latest figures displayed on the National Coronavirus Dashboard of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) over 4,027 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 across Pakistan and nine more people lost their lives during last 24 hours.

The NCOC figures have revealed that 9 more people died  in last 24 hours by novel coronavirus that took the overall toll to 29,012 across the country.

After 4,027 new positive cases were reported across the country the overall toll surged to 1,324,147 on Sunday morning.

The province wise data released by the NCOC displayed that Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The NCOC has reported 29,012 total deaths across the country so far out of which 13,088 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 7,694 in Sindh 5,958 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 969 in Islamabad, 749 in Azad Kashmir, 367 in Balochistan, and 187 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

NCOC also confirmed country-wide positive cases jumped to 1,324,147 so far out of which 499,830 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 452,261 in Punjab 182,199 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 110,963 in Islamabad, 34,750 in Azad Kashmir 33,699 in Balochistan and 10,445 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Pakistan has so far conducted 24,136,709 coronavirus tests and 51,236 in the last 24 hours. 1,263,584 patients have recovered in the country whereas 752 patients are in critical condition.

The COVID-19 positivity ratio was recorded at 7.8 per cent.

So far, 101,457,925 people have received their first dose of coronavirus vaccine including 332,969 in last 24 hours. 76,649,649 citizens have been fully vaccinated while 462,614 received their second dose in last 24 hours.

The number of total administered doses has reached to 166,837,089 with 753,282 in the last 24 hours.
