ISLAMABAD: Coronavirus fifth wave continue to wreak havoc across Pakistan as country confirmed 42 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus highest toll in last four months and 5,830 people were tested positive for the deadly virus.
According to the latest figures appeared on National Coronavirus Dashboard of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 42 deaths were reported across Pakistan the highest number in last four months while 5,830 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
With 5,830 people were tested positive for the COVID-19 the overall tally for infections surged to 1,442,263, the NCOC reported. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 29,372 on Thursday morning after 42 new deaths were confirmed by the NCOC.
Giving the province-wise update to the COVID-19, the NCOC reported that Punjab province remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The NCOC confirmed the overall deaths tally of 29,372 across Pakistan out of which 13,201 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 7,849 in Sindh 6,023 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 982 in Islamabad, 760 in Azad Kashmir, 368 in Balochistan, and 189 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
NCOC also confirmed the overall toll of positive cases has surged to 1,442,263 across Pakistan out of which 546,141 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 483,779 in Punjab 197,937 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 129,758 in Islamabad, 39,323 in Azad Kashmir 34,557 in Balochistan and 10,768 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Giving details of the COVID-19 tests, the NCOC stated that Pakistan has so far conducted 25,194,561 coronavirus tests and 59,786 in the last 24 hours. 1,312,819 patients have recovered in the country whereas 1,590 patients are in critical condition.
Stating that out of 59,786 tests conducted during last 24 hours 5,830 people were tested positive that makes the COVID-19 positivity ratio was recorded at 9.75 per cent.
Giving updates of overall vaccination the NCOC reported that so far, 105,575,650 people have received their first dose of coronavirus vaccine including 500,566 in last 24 hours. 82,554,781 citizens have been fully vaccinated while 720,727 received their second dose in last 24 hours. The number of total administered doses has reached to 177,483,355 with 1,254,125 in the last 24 hours.
