Coronavirus Fifth Wave: Pakistan reports 6,357 cases, 17 deaths in 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: Coronavirus fifth wave has again wreaked havoc across Pakistan as 6,357 people were tested positive by novel coronavirus, besides 17 more people have lost their lives during last 24 hours.

According to the latest figures displayed on National Coronavirus Dashboard of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) stated that 6,357 new infection cases of positive to COVID-19 were confirmed and alongwith 17 more deaths, across the country on Tuesday morning.

As per the figures of the NCOC 6,357 new positive cases were reported in the country which took the overall tally to 1,381, 152. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 29,122, as during last 24 hours 17 more people lost their lives to the deadly virus.

Giving the province wise data of the deadly disease the NCOC reported that Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and coronavirus.

As per NCOC nation-wide data the overall tally of deaths jumped to 29,122 out of which13,117 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 7,746 in Sindh 5,977 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 976 in Islamabad, 752 in Azad Kashmir, 367 in Balochistan, and 187 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The NCOC data revealed that overall figure of the positive cases across Pakistan surged to 1,381,152, out of which 529,218 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 466,164 in Punjab 185,683 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 120,128 in Islamabad, 35,474 in Azad Kashmir 33,975 in Balochistan and 10,510 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Giving details of the tests the NCOC stated that Pakistan has so far conducted 24,639,942 coronavirus tests and 49,595 in the last 24 hours. 1,269,634 patients have recovered in the country whereas 1,200 patients are in critical condition.

Desribing the country-wide positivity ratio, the NCOC stated that the COVID-19 positivity ratio was recorded at 12.81 per cent.

So far, 103,805,835 people have received their first dose of coronavirus vaccine including 236,182 in last 24 hours. 80,041,973 citizens have been fully vaccinated while 388,764 received their second dose in last 24 hours.

The number of total administered doses has reached to 172,836,036 with 660,303 in the last 24 hours.
