Coronavirus pandemic claims 23 more lives, 1,176 tested positive during last 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: Coronavirus epidemic during its second wave in Pakistan continued claiming more lives as during last 24 hours 23 more people lost their lives and 1,176 people were tested positive to virus.

During last 24 hours 23 new deaths were reported to COVID-19 and 1,176 more people were tested positive to the virus round the Pakistan on Sunday.

Nationwide infections toll reported on Sunday was 1,176 to coronavirus epidemic besides 23 more deaths were confirmed. With 1,176 new infections reported in the country that took the toll to 579,973 cases and with 23 new deaths the toll of fatalities jumped to 12,860.

According to the latest figures displayed on National Coronavirus Dashboard of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), the NCOC confirmed the death of 23 more people during last 24 hours besides reported that 1,176 persons tested positive for COVID-19.

Sindh with 258,004 overall COVID-19 cases remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Punjab has overtaken Sindh in most number of casualties.

So far across the country 258,004 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 171,349 in Punjab 72,162 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 44,259 in Islamabad, 19,045 in Balochistan, 10,198 in Azad Kashmir and 4,956 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Nationwide tally of fatalities remains 12,860 out of that 5,350 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 4,343 in Sindh, 2,072 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 496 in Islamabad, 297 in Azad Kashmir, 200 in Balochistan, and 102 in Gilgit Baltistan.

Pakistan has so far conducted 8,951,838 coronavirus tests and 38,920 in the last 24 hours. 545,277 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas 1,562 patients are in critical condition.
