ISLAMABAD: Coronavirus pandemic seems to see yet another spike in Pakistan with 556 new cases-highest in more than 6 weeks, reported on Saturday.
National Coronavirus Dashboard of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) reported six new deaths while 556 more people were tested positive to the deadly virus, during the last 24 hours.
Total number of positive cases in the country since the pandemic started, has surged to 1,295,933. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 28,933 after six more deaths were reported on Saturday morning.
The province-wise details at NCOC dashboard show that Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In the country-wise tally of deaths 13,070 individuals lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 7,670 in Sindh 5,930 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 967 in Islamabad, 746 in Azad Kashmir, 364 in Balochistan, and 186 in Gilgit-Baltistan so far.
Of the 1,295,933 positive, 482,029 have been in Sindh, 445,107 in Punjab 181,402 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 108,666 in Islamabad, 34,662 in Azad Kashmir, 33,638 in Balochistan and 10,429 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Pakistan has so far conducted 23,423,546 coronavirus tests, 51,141 in the last 24 hours. A total of 1,256,816 patients have recovered in the country whereas 629 patients are in critical condition.
Currently COVID-19 positivity ratio was recorded at 1.08 per cent.
So far, 96,980,678 people have received their first dose of coronavirus vaccine including 927,315 in last 24 hours. A total of 70,576,467 citizens have been fully vaccinated while 1,046,013 received their second dose in last 24 hours.
The number of total administered doses has reached to 156,623,021 with 1,599,380 in the last 24 hours, as per official data.
