Coronavirus Third Wave: Pakistan crosses 800,000 infections

ISLAMABAD: Coronavirus third wave is taking worst turn in Pakistan, with 4,825 new cases country-wide toll jumped 800,000 mark of infections.

The authorities have reported 70 deaths in last 24 hours while the virus as 4,825 more people were tested positive for the Virus. During last 24 hours 70 new deaths were reported that took the toll of fatalities to 17,187.

Government has deployed the Army personnel count the country to ensure strict implementation on Coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs) and is is looking to impose massive lockdown in big cities with over 13 per cent fatalities percentage,

The Interior Ministry issued a notification stating that Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the Islamabad Capital Territory will (in accordance with their needs) seek the help of the Pakistan Army to strictly implement the coronavirus SOPs. The orders, however, do not apply to Sindh.

On Monday morning the country has reported 70 new deaths by COVID-19 pandemic that took the toll of fatalities to 17,187, while 4,825 more people were tested positive taking the tally to 800,452 round the Pakistan.

According to latest figures displayed on National Coronavirus Dashboard of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), the NCOC confirmed the death of 70 more people during last 24 hours besides reported that 4,825 persons tested positive for COVID-19.

Punjab have been declared worst hit province during this month as positivity rate of the province was witnessed over 11 per cent in some parts. Sindh has reported 290,788 overall coronavirus epidemic infections remained the worst-hit province of the country in terms of cases followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Punjab has overtaken Sindh in most number of casualties.

The new cases have taken the national tally of positive cases to 800,452 with 285,542 reported in Punjab, 290,788 in Sindh, 114,077 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 72,613 in Islamabad, 21,743 in Balochistan, 16,591 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and 5,258 in Gilgit Baltistan.

Nationwide tally of fatalities remains 17,187 out of that 7,823 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 4,576 in Sindh, 3,029 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 227 in Balochistan, 652 in Islamabad, 455 in Azad Kashmir and 104 in Gilgit Baltistan.

Pakistan has so far conducted 11,431,241 coronavirus tests and 50,161 in the last 24 hours. 682,290 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas 4,652 patients are in critical condition.
