Coronavirus Third Wave: Pakistan reports 4,487 news cases, 142 deaths in 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: Coronavirus third wave is taking worst turn across Pakistan and Government is taking all out measures to ensure to curb the pandemic, but the situation is worsening as during last 24 hours country reported 4,487 new cases country-wide besides 142 new deaths.

The authorities have reported 142 deaths in last 24 hours while the virus as 4,487 more people were tested positive for the Virus that took the toll to 804,939 cases. During last 24 hours 142 new deaths were reported that took the toll of fatalities to 17,329.

Government has deployed the Army personnel count the country to ensure strict implementation on Coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs) and is is looking to impose massive lockdown in big cities with over 13 per cent fatalities percentage,

The Interior Ministry issued a notification stating that Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the Islamabad Capital Territory will (in accordance with their needs) seek the help of the Pakistan Army to strictly implement the coronavirus SOPs. The orders, however, do not apply to Sindh.

On Tuesday morning the country has reported 142 new deaths by COVID-19 pandemic that took the toll of fatalities to 17,329, while 4,487 more people were tested positive taking the tally to 804,939 round the Pakistan.

According to latest figures displayed on National Coronavirus Dashboard of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), the NCOC confirmed the death of 142 more people during last 24 hours besides reported that 4,487 persons tested positive for COVID-19.

Punjab have been declared worst hit province during this month as positivity rate of the province was witnessed over 11 per cent in some parts while the toll of infections reached to 293,468 in the province. Sindh has reported 279,272 overall coronavirus epidemic infections, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Punjab has overtaken Sindh in most number of casualties.

The new cases have taken the national tally of positive cases to 800,452 with 293,468 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Punjab, 279,272 in Sindh, 114,661 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 73,804 in Islamabad, 21,803 in Balochistan, 16,659 in Azad Kashmir and 5,272 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Nationwide tally of fatalities remains 17,329 out of that 8,097 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 4,605 in Sindh, 3,156 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 670 in Islamabad, 464 in Azad Kashmir, 232 in Balochistan, and 105 in Gilgit Baltistan.

Pakistan has so far conducted 11,632,913 coronavirus tests and 43,981 in the last 24 hours. 699,816 patients have recovered in the country whereas 5,075 patients are in critical condition.
